Kate and Ben’s Allegheny Country Club Wedding

Kate and Ben are a remarkable couple with an equally remarkable story about how they met. The fact that Kate grew up in the North Hills and Ben in the South Hills might be enough to impress your average bridge-phobic Pittsburgher, but for Kate and Ben that tidbit of geographical information is just the beginning. After following two very different (but both very impressive) paths for school around the US and beyond, Kate and Ben’s first meeting didn’t occur in Pittsburgh at all, but at Wake Forest University in North Carolina where they were both completing a residency in Internal Medicine. It was a chance encounter during a morning meeting, over 400 miles away from the ‘Burgh, that brought Kate and Ben together. They quickly bonded over their mutual love of their hometown, the Steelers, and even a few Primanti’s sandwiches imported by Kate herself! The rest, as they say, is history!

Kate and Ben’s wedding more than lived up to their incredible back-story and then some. We spent a fun-filled morning at Kate’s parents’ home for preparations with a house full of family, bridesmaids, and makeup artists. Kate and Ben’s ceremony was held at St. Bernard’s Parish in Mt. Lebanon. Ben’s family have been longtime active members of St. Bernard’s which lent a nice personal touch to their beautiful ceremony. Kate and Ben’s reception was at the absolutely stunning Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, and Allison McGeary floral did a spectacular job with all of the gorgeous arrangements. Kate, Ben, and their entire bridal party were true troopers as we braved wind, rain, and even lightening during picture time on the club’s picturesque grounds. Before their reception began, the skies cleared for a gorgeous evening of family, friends, and plenty of partying! After many heartfelt toasts and speeches, Studio E made sure guests kept the dance floor packed. And that wasn’t all…in lieu of a grooms cake, Kate surprised Ben with a fire pit, S’mores, and Primanti’s-style sandwiches under the night sky.

We’d like to send a huge Studio Bash “Thank You” out to Kate, Ben and their entire family for letting us be part of the day. We LOVED spending it with you all!
